Meet Jackie

Jackie has lived in South Brisbane all her life. She grew up in East Brisbane, attending St Joseph’s Primary School at Kangaroo Point.

Jackie’s parents owned and ran a fruit shop in Woolloongabba and, together with her husband, she is now raising her two kids in West End.

As a second generation Lebanese migrant, Jackie was proud to be the first person in her family to go to university. She knows the value of a good education - having worked as a public servant in the areas of education and disability policy.

Jackie was elected to the Queensland Parliament in 2012 as the Member for South Brisbane. She also serves Queenslanders as the Deputy Premier, Treasurer and Minister for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Partnerships.
